Eric Smith

Eric Smith grew up in Central Michigan. A multi-sport athlete in high school, Eric achieved All-State honors in both football and basketball. Upon graduating in 1984 he attended Bowling Green State University on a football scholarship as a Division-1 Quarterback. He was a three-time Academic All-Conference selection which means that he excelled both in the classroom and on the field.

During his 5 years of Football at Bowling Green he experienced both winning and losing seasons. From his experience, he took away valuable lessons that helped shape his life to who he is today.

While he had a great experience, things weren’t always easy, and it certainly didn’t always go well. Coach Smith attributes his success, both on and off the field, to being highly coachable, having a focused work ethic, and being able to endure and overcome adversity.

After graduating in 1988 with a degree in Business Administration, Eric began his business career which took him from a career in financial services to pharmaceutical sales to his current career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones.

During his business career, Eric served in many leadership roles and has been exposed to some of the best leadership training in the world. Due to his interest in leadership development, in 2016, Eric became a certified speaker and trainer with The John Maxwell TEAM, the world’s leading leadership organization.

To fulfill his passion for developing people, Eric also coached high school football from 2012 to 2015. Today, Eric and his wife, Lisa, operate The Winning Edge Quarterback Academyin Raleigh-Durham, NC.

Now it’s time for Eric to give back by sharing his knowledge & passion of sports and leadership. Eric is excited about teaching today’s athlete and coaches how to reach their fullest potential not only in sports but ultimately in LIFE!
