"Don't pressure yourself to target a market. Hit the mark instead. Pay homage to your own connection. Quantity flocks to quality, and quality comes from purity.   Purity wails. 9 Simple Steps to Publishing with Wisdom House Books

You can do it all yourself—if you have time and resources and know all the industry standards—or you can let Wisdom House Books be your one-stop shop to easy publishing.

Here's how easily the process flows with expert book publishing from Wisdom House Books:

Step 1: Submit your manuscript as a Microsoft Word document with your first payment—half the total cost of the publishing package you choose. (You may be asked for a printed version of your manuscript later.) We will assign your book an ISBN and begin the process of making you an author.

Step 2:  We choose the perfect editor for your book, and he or she goes to work on polishing and clarifying your manuscript and focusing your message. Every author will be involved in approving changes made by the editor. It's important that the book reflects the view and voice of the author. Depending on the level of required editing, this process may take from one to three months.

Step 3:  Once you approve the editing, you pay the estimated amount for editing, and the manuscript goes to the designer, who will format the book. At this point, you will choose a price for the book, and a publication date* synchronized with your publicity and marketing plans will be determined. If you choose to promote your book through one of our affordable book promotion packages, you will begin communicating with our supportive and encouraging PR expert at this time.

Step 4:  Meanwhile, an experienced Wisdom House Books copywriter will create compelling jacket copy for your book—the kind that will help you easily sell your book online and in bookstores.

Step 5:  The jacket copy will be submitted to the cover designer, who will create an attractive cover that will help your book grab the reader's attention and jump off the shelves.

Step 6:  The cover and the interior of your book will be returned to you for review. Once you have approved it, the cover is submitted to the proofing editor, who will carefully examine every word to find errors in punctuation, spelling, and formatting.

Step 7:  You will then take a final look at everything having to do with your book at this stage. Once you approve the final manuscript and cover, you will pay remaining fees, and the book will be sent off to the printer.

Step 8:  In a few days, you will receive the proof or “galley” copy. You will carefully look it over a final time.  Once you have approved the galley, the printer will print your complimentary copies and send them to you, and if you are printing offset, your printer will send the remaining copies to your fulfillment service or distributor. Your book will then be released for sale with amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and other online booksellers. If you use print-on-demand services, our distributor, Ingram, will notify bookstores that your book is available to stock or special order. Through lightning-fast technology, your books can be ordered one at a time for individual buyers or by the boatload for mega booksellers.

Step 9:  You may now begin signing copies and setting dates with the media. You are a published author!

*Please note that the printed publication date should  be at least six months in advance of the actual release date, which will enable you to submit your book for review. The release date indicates when the book is available for purchase.
